Multi-Use Paths on the Outer Banks


A variety of multi-use paths are available for residents and visitors of Dare County to traverse across towns and villages, providing access to businesses, beach accesses and the soundside.   These pathways are generally free from motorized vehicles and separated from vehicular traffic.

Dare County Bicycle Map -  developed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety, this PDF depicts bicycle/multi-use trails in all of the communities from Corolla to Hatteras Inlet, and Roanoke Island.  These map shows the network of bicycle facilities including wide paved shoulders, multi-use paths on separate alignments, and sidepaths adjacent to the road that NCDOT has built in conjunction with local municipalities on the Outer Banks to increase safety and the overall enjoyment for bicyclists.
