Beach Driving Season
The beach driving season runs from October 1 through April 30 each year.
Types of Driving Permits
Two types of permits are available: seasonal ($25) and temporary ($10 - good for 14 days).
Driving Permits Good in KDH AND Nags Head
Through a reciprocal agreement, KDH beach driving permits are recognized between the Town of Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills. This allows the holder of a KDH permit to drive on Nags Head Beaches and vice versa.
Where to Get a Permit
Beach driving permits are required and can be purchased 8 am - 5 pm, M-F, at KDH Town Hall, second floor at the Cashier's Desk, located at 102 Town Hall Drive. Nags Head Permits (which allow you to drive in KDH) are available at Nags Head Town Hall or TW's Bait & Tackle in Nags Head.
