Town of Kill Devil Hills

A Note From KDH . . .

As we progress into this health emergency further, we have made a few changes to this email so that you can find the information you need more quickly.

  • We'll include any Kill Devil Hills-related information at the top of our emails (but not this one, obviously).

  • We'll include the first paragraph or so of the latest Dare County bulletin, but then will provide a link to the full document in case you prefer to read more. Long, text-heavy emails (we know, we're totally guilty of this right now) can be overwhelming and will likely not be read, so we're stopping that.

  • We need more positivity in our lives right now, so we'll do our best to include information that may make your day a little happier or may help you get through this pandemic.
We would love to take a moment to acknowledge all of the wonderful people, generous businesses, and incredible organizations who are finding ways to help one another, here in our Outer Banks community. But we need your help! If you have experienced an act of kindness, witnessed a selfless gesture, or been touched by a good deed, please feel free to email our Public Information Officer, Rachel Tackett at rachel@kdhnc.com, and we will do our best to include a "shout-out" our daily emails.

Thank you for your patience. We're committed to keeping you safe and informed.

COVID-19 Bulletin #33 from Dare County Emergency Management

In North Carolina, there are currently 2,870 cases of COVID-19 in 89 counties. There have been  33 fatalities in NC associated with COVID-19. Currently, the state is reporting 261 hospitalizations across the state from COVID-19 illness.

On Sunday, the Dare County Division of Public Health announced the sixth positive test result for COVID-19 in Dare County. It is possible that this individual may have acquired the virus from an asymptomatic individual, indicating community spread. The Division of Public Health will continue to report on any positive test results as soon as possible.

There are community members asking for more information on travel patterns of people who have tested positive for COVID-19. By law, patient confidentiality must be protected. In a small community such as Dare County, this means only limited information can be shared. Public health staff contacts individuals or facilities that may have had direct contact (6 feet or less for 10 minutes or greater) with an individual who tests positive as part of each contact tracing investigation.
