Latest Information from the Town of Kill Devil HillsThe Town of Kill Devil Hills offices are closed today, 4/10/20, in observance of Good Friday. All Town offices will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, 4/13/20. We understand the desire to be outside is more powerful than ever. The sunshine and warmer temperatures are bringing residents out to the beach and parks. While going to the beach or parks on your own or with members of your household is an acceptable activity under the Stay at Home Order, it is vital that social distancing practices are followed. Kill Devil Hills’ Staff remain ready to help you, but, we need you to help us, too. The Town’s Ocean Rescue Division and Police Department are monitoring activity at the Town’s beach and parks – this is where we need your help! We ask you maintain a distance of at least six feet from others who are not part of the same household and to kindly talk with your neighbors and others before calling on the Town’s resources. We’re all facing these difficult and different times together. Take a deep breath. Proceed with patience. Be kind and help your neighbors. We can do this Kill Devil Hills! Our community will be a part of the solution to flatten the curve! Together we will navigate these uncharted waters and together we will lessen the impacts of the COVID-19 wave in our community. Please visit our website, www.kdhnc.com for information on modifications to daily operations/services, closed facilities, meeting/event cancellations, contact information for various Town Departments, and other updates.

COVID-19 Bulletin #38 from Dare County Emergency ManagementIn North Carolina, there are currently 3,908 cases of COVID-19 in 91 counties. There have been 74 fatalities in NC associated with COVID-19. Currently, the state is reporting 423 hospitalizations across the state from COVID-19 illness.
To date, Dare County has reported 13 positive test results for COVID-19. Of the 13 individuals who have tested positive, 8 have recovered/or are asymptomatically cleared (meaning they are 7 days post testing with no symptoms), 3 are asymptomatic (meaning they have not experienced any COVID-19 symptoms), 1 is recovering at home and 1 died.
As we begin the third weekend with Stay Home, Stay Healthy measures in place, it is important to continue to emphasize the guidelines that are in place for slowing the spread of the virus. This information may seem repetitive, but it is critical in our fight against the spread of COVID-19. - Stay home, and only go out for necessities or exercise, and only have contact with the people you live with.
- Avoid contact with persons that you know are sick.
- Cover your cough (cough into the crook of your elbow; or use a tissue and throw in trash).
- Practice good hand hygiene (wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing).
- If you do not have access to soap and water, use hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.
- Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces with household cleaners.
- Consider using a cloth face covering to help slow the spread of COVID-19. A face covering alone is insufficient to provide an adequate level of protection, and other measures should also be utilized.

Spread Kindness Not GermsTo help keep the Outer Banks community safe and healthy, Outer Banks Distilling temporarily switched their focus from producing Kill Devil Rum to producing Kill Devil Sanitizer. Members of the Distillery manufactured and donated hand sanitizer to area first responders and to the general public. A huge thanks to Outer Banks Distilling for taking the initiative to help protect our community!
