Today is the Deadline to Apply for a
Vendor Space at the First Flight Holiday Markets


The Town is currently seeking applications from vendors and food trucks to participate in its community holiday markets. While the markets focus on items that are homegrown, homebaked, or handmade, for the holiday season, we will be offering other entrepreneurs the opportunity to join, should the space allow. The town is also looking for food trucks/carts to participate.

Applications to participate in the market must be submitted no later than October 15, 2021, for consideration. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. An application and additional information can be found on the town's website. 

Early Voting Underway for 2021 Municipal Election 

Early voting for the municipal election in Dare County began on  October 14, 2021

Early voting for the 2021 Municipal Election began on October 14th.

Registered Dare County voters will have the option to early vote at either of the following two locations in Dare County:

Dare County Administration Building
(954 Marshall C. Collins Dr., Manteo, NC 27954)

Kill Devil Hills Town Hall Commissioners Meeting Room
(102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948)


These sites will be open on weekdays from Thursday, October 14, 2021, through Friday, October 29, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Early voting allows any registered voter to cast an absentee ballot in person on select days prior to Election Day. Those who are not registered may register and vote during early voting as well.

2021 Fall Bulk Collection Schedule

The Town of Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department will begin the collection of APPROVED bulk trash items from IMPROVED properties within the Town of Kill Devil Hills on Monday, October 18, 2021.  APPROVED items for collection should be placed in the street right-of-way not later than Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Please place approved bulk trash items in four separate bundles. Non-approved materials, mixed piles, and items that are improperly sorted will not be collected!

KDH offers free mulch to the public

Free Mulch Available

In addition to looking nice, there are many benefits to using mulch in your garden. Mulch nourishes the soil, suppresses weeds, conserves water, regulates root temperatures, and prevents erosion. 

Take advantage of the FREE mulch the town offers while supplies last!

Mulch is available at our Dry Trash Drop Off and Recycle Center (DTDC) and at Aviation Park. Please help yourself to what you need.

The DTDC is located at 701 Bermuda Bay Boulevard. The hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Aviation Park is located at 103 Veterans Drive. Stop by anytime!

There are many benefits to using mulch. Take advantage of the town's free mulch while it lasts.




Fill out an application to adopt a live oak tree

Adopt a Live Oak Tree

The Town of Kill Devil Hills Community Appearance Commission (CAC) worked to establish an official town tree, the Live Oak. Awareness and preservation efforts are conducted during the month of May with a ‘Love Your Live Oak’ campaign. Leading up to the campaign, the CAC will be accepting applications from KDH residents who are interested in receiving a live oak tree, at no cost to them, to plant on their property.

To receive a free young Live Oak Tree, please complete an application on the town’s website.

Applications will be collected through the last day of the year for review by the CAC in January. Limit one application per property owner.
