On Monday, October 10, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. the Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners will hold its regular meeting of the month in the Meeting Room, 102 Town Hall Drive; following the regular meeting, the Board will conduct a forum-style session during which any questions or comments will be welcomed. Planning Board

On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. the Kill Devil Hills Planning Board will hold its regular meeting of the month in the Meeting Room, 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills. At its September 12, 2022, meeting, the Board of Commissioners scheduled a joint worksession with the Planning Board on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., to consider Staff proposals on long-term housing in Kill Devil Hills. Town of Kill Devil Hills Water Bill phone and online payments unavailable

At this time, the online and phone payment system to complete water bill payments is temporarily unavailable. While the system is unavailable, late penalties will be postponed. If you need to make a water bill payment, please go to the Finance Department on the second floor at 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC or use the drop box in the parking lot.

2022 Fall Bulk Collection Schedule

The Town of Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department will begin the collection of APPROVED bulk trash items from IMPROVED properties within the Town of Kill Devil Hills on Monday, October 17, 2022. APPROVED items for collection may be placed in the street right-of-way not earlier than Sunday, October 2, 2022 and not later than Sunday, October 16, 2022.
Please place approved bulk trash items in four separate bundles. Non-approved materials, mixed piles, and items that are improperly sorted will not be collected. View bundle guidelines.

Kill Devil Hills Beach Driving begins October 1, 2022

KDH Seasonal Beach Driving Permits Sold at Stop N Shop

KDH 2022-2023 Seasonal beach driving permits are now available for purchase at Stop N Shop, 100 South Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948. They are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. To purchase a seasonal beach driving permit at Stop N Shop the vehicle license plate and VIN numbers, and cash payment are needed.

Love Your Live Oak Adoption

The Town of Kill Devil Hills' Community Appearance Commission (CAC) worked to establish an official town tree, the Live Oak. Awareness and preservation efforts are conducted during the month of May with a ‘Love Your Live Oak’ campaign. Leading up to the campaign, the CAC will be accepting applications from KDH residents who are interested in receiving a live oak tree, at no cost to them, to plant on their property.

To receive a free young Live Oak Tree, please complete an application here.

Applications will be collected October 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 for review by the CAC in January of 2023. Limit one application per property owner.

Voting in Dare County, NC

Dare County, NC will hold statewide general election on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. One-stop early voting will be held at the following locations from Thursday, October 20, 2022 to Saturday, November 5, 2022: Dare County Administration Building, Kill Devil Hills Town Hall and the Fessenden Center. Monday through Friday, October 20, 2022 to November 4, 2022 8:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
