Planned Temporary Road Closures

W. Durham Street

Friday, May 5, 2023

The Town of Kill Devil Hills will have a temporary road closure beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, for the east end of W. Durham Street at its intersection with N. Croatan Hwy, for utility and roadway improvements.

Through traffic on W. Durham Street will be prohibited during this work. Local traffic may use W. Avalon Dr. or W. Third St. to detour around the closure. W. Durham St. will remain open from the west for access to adjacent homes.

The temporary road closure is scheduled to end by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023.

W. FIFTH Street

The Town will also have a temporary road closure beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, for W. Fifth St. at the intersection of N. Croatan Hwy, for utility and roadway improvements by Fred Smith Company.

Through traffic on W. Fifth St. will be prohibited during this work. Local traffic traveling southbound on N. Croatan Hwy. may use W. Fourth St. to Georgia Ln. to detour around the closure. Local traffic traveling northbound on N. Croatan Hwy. may use W. Avalon. to Bay Dr. to detour around the closure.

Local traffic on W. Fifth St. may use Georgia Ln. and W. Fourth St. to detour around the closure and get to N. Croatan Hwy. W. Fifth St. will remain open for access to Truist Bank and adjacent homes from Georgia Ln. or Bay Dr.

The temporary road closure is scheduled to end by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023.
