Grand Opening of the 

Splash Pad at Meekins Field Park

Kill Devil Hills has had many 'firsts.' We’re home to the world’s first flight, and, here in our home of Dare County, we are the first to have a disc golf course, a fully accessible beach access, and now a Splash Pad!

Please plan to join us to celebrate another of our firsts at our Grand Opening of the Splash Pad at Meekins Field Park on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The event will include a welcome and ribbon cutting from the Town’s Board of Commissioners. Following the cutting of the ribbon, it will be ‘game on’ as the water begins to flow from the Splash Pad and its features. (Be sure to wear your bathing suit or water clothes, to partake in the fun!) Event attendees will also be provided with free snowballs from Island Snowball Company, free hotdogs grilled by Town staff, and Kill Devil Hills' giveaways to commemorate this special occasion.
