KDH Capital Projects Update

*Please note planned road closures and water outages as listed in the update:  

FULL Closure: Goddard Avenue at Wrightsville tentatively planned for Oct. 2-4
PARTIAL Closure: Wrightsville Avenue at Goddard tentatively planned for Oct. 2-4
WATER OUTAGES:  Goddard Avenue, Wrightsville Boulevard and portions of S. Memorial tentatively planned for Oct. 2-4.  Affected homes will be notified by door hangers.

Please join us for a cup of coffee on Wednesday, October 2 from 8am until 10am at the Front Porch Cafe at the MilePost 6 Plaza in Kill Devil Hills

Building relationships, one cup at a time – Join officers from the Kill Devil Hills Police Department for coffee and conversation on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Front Porch Cafe at the Mile Post 6 Plaza, 2200 N Croatan Hwy, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948.

Coffee with a Cop is a special event that brings police officers and the community members they serve together–over coffee–to discuss issues and learn more about each other.

Fire Station Open House

Join the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department at Fire Station 14 (1630 North Croatan Highway, Kill Devil Hills, NC) October 8, 2024, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 p.m. to meet members of the team and check out their equipment, as well as participate in fun activities for all ages!

Beach Driving

Kill Devil Hills’ beach driving permits will go on sale Monday, September 30, 2024, at both the KDH Finance Counter and at Stop N Shop – in person only. Beginning October 1st, permits will be available on the Town’s website, www.kdhnc.com.

Permits can be purchased at the following locations:

  • KDH Finance Department: Cashier’s Counter, located on the second floor of Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC. Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
  • Stop N Shop: 100 S. Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC. Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Sunday – Saturday.   
  • KDH Website: www.kdhnc.com  (beginning 10/1)

KDH beach driving permits are ONLY good for the Town of Kill Devil Hills beach.

Reminder: Although permits will go on sale Monday, permit holders will not be allowed to drive on the beach until October 1st. The Town’s beach driving season runs from October 1st through April 30th. Any closures will be posted on the Town's website. 
Fall Bulk Trash Collection The Town of Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department will begin collection of APPROVED bulk trash items from IMPROVED properties within the Town of Kill Devil Hills on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. APPROVED items for collection should be placed in the street right-of-way not earlier than Monday, September 30, 2024, and not later than Monday, October 14, 2024.
