The Town of Kill Devil Hills offices will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day. All Town offices will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.  No residential and commercial refuse collections will be made on Monday, February 17, 2025. Normal residential refuse collections for the west side of US Highway 158 will be made on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. An adjusted residential refuse collection for the east side of US Highway 158 will be made on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.     Normal commercial refuse collections will resume on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.  Residential curbside collection of recyclables by Bay Disposal will be made on the normal collection days; Monday (east side) and Tuesday (west side), during this holiday week.

Calling all K-12 First Flight students or home-schooled students:

We need you to use your artistic talent to design this year’s Trash Attack! poster!

The poster should focus on the Trash Attack! event and keeping our community clean of litter. The contest is for K-12 (First Flight Students or KDH Residents). Posters should be on white 22"x 28" poster board, landscape format. On the back include name, age, grade, school, and parent / guardian's phone number and email.

Prizes will be awarded for chosen posters!

Submit poster to the Administration Department, KDH Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Poster Submission Deadline: March 7, 2025, 4 p.m.

Note:  In Kill Devil Hills, the intentional release of lighter-than-air balloons from any Town-owned property is prohibited. This ordinance was enacted to protect area wildlife from spent balloons and balloon remnants, which can be confused as a food source.  See Ordinance Amendment 20-13 to the Town Code for more information.
