House Bill 765
“An Act to Reform Local Government Development Regulations in this State”
Legislation has recently been proposed in the General Assembly that, if passed, will limit or eliminate a municipality’s ability to protect the public with approaches that include overly broad changes to planning and zoning authority for local governments in North Carolina.
The Town of Kill Devil Hills recognizes the essential need for planning and zoning regulations to protect our citizens, businesses, and property owners, and for orderly management of growth, public safety, and the general welfare of its citizens.
At its April 14, 2025, meeting, the Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners formally passed a resolution opposing House Bill 765 and similar proposals. As this legislation would affect all of our citizens, businesses, property owners, and sister municipalities, we’re asking you to please join us in contacting your local representatives and sharing your concerns regarding House Bill 765 and similar proposals.
